The Legend of the Loch Ness Monster.

It is claimed that Nessie was first glimpsed as early as 6th century AD though modern sightings started in the 1930’s when a new road was built around Loch Ness.

The Loch Ness Monster was seen crossing the new road by a driver and passenger in 1933 and in 1934 a motorcyclist almost collided with it!

Most sightings have been of Nessie swimming and frolicking in the Loch.

The first scientific investigation took place between June and July 1960 when there were reports of a sighting and some very odd results from an echo sounder survey.

Since then a multitude of sightings have been claimed and even some photographs taken.

If you want to see Nessie yourself the best place to look is said to be around Urquhart Castle area, if you are not successful you can always take a Highbank Nessie home with you!
